Gopal Gaushala Gau Sewa Samiti (Regd) Ropar was set up in the year 1999 to rescue and take care of abandoned cows. It is registered with the Registrar of Firms and Societies Punjab, Chandigarh vide Registration No. 67 dated 09.04.1999 and with the Animal Welfare Board of India, Chennai vide Registration No. PJP19-2000. It is spread over area of 5.0 acre on the right side bank of Sirhind Canal, Ropar. It has its proper office and its affairs are being run in accordance with the by-laws & Constitution of the Society. Presently the Gaushala has a capacity to keep about 600 nos of Cow heads. Any person having paid Rs 5100/- or more in lump sum as donation is eligible to become a life member.
The main aims and objects of Gopal Gaushala Gau Sewa Samiti (Regd) Ropar are to look after, protect and serve the old infirm and deserted cows, exen and calves & to provide feed, watering, medical care, monitoring better hygiene in addition to provide comfort and protection from severe cold and harsh climate.
Gopal Gaushala Gau Sewa Samiti (Regd) Ropar has a pucca structure for Turi sheds with the capacity to store about 4000 quintals of Turi, cow Sheds (19 No’s) and Temple with a big hall with the sitting capacity of about 1000 persons being used for carrying out religious functions /Rituals. It has an in-house veterinary dispensary to meet the medical requirement of cow heads, having close contact with local veterinary hospital and private veterinary specialist doctor to meet any medical emergency. It has also provided the facility of accommodation to the Gawallas in the premises of Gopal Gaushala Gau Sewa Samiti (Regd) Ropar to take care (24X7) of Cow heads.
